We collaborate with our waste partners, The Recycling Partnership, to recycle as much waste as possible from events at the Showground and together, have a ‘Zero Waste to Landfill’ policy, recovering renewable energy from general waste through a number of processes including Energy Recovery and Refuse Derived Fuel. We encourage Event Centre clients to have a ‘Zero Single Use Plastics’ policy.
We work hard to reduce water waste at the Showground, and continually monitor our water and electricity usage. We use refillable dispensers in all of our toilet blocks and are working towards using re-usable linen hand towels in all our facilities.
We work towards developing our relationship with the local community, providing discounted tickets to residents for third party events where possible. We also have a public footpath running through the Showground where we welcome local residents and their dogs to make use of our green spaces, enhancing community wellbeing.
We are committed to increasing our sustainability practices going forward, including in our new buildings with minimal paper use, reduced water use, eco-friendly construction and sensor driven lighting, as evidenced in our new toilet block which was opened in June 2024.
